My direct supervisor told me, “nobody cares about your mother” after I was able to locate her weeks after Hurricane Maria destroyed Puerto Rico and transported her to my home. I had to telework on a regular telework day to facilitate my mom’s healthcare because my mom had been admitted to the hospital with pneumonia upon her arrival to the US.
