Pros
Because you will have no support from anyone, you will get a chance to learn every aspect of the business.
Cons
Digital First Media is Exhibit A in how not to run a company. When Media News Group changed its name to Digital First Media, it was a perfect example of the old PR move where you call something the opposite of what it really is—think "The Patriot Act". The company's CEO has a backward view of human resources; working for him is the privilege, yet he has no gratitude or respect for any of the hard work that people put in. No matter your role or title, you are immediately replaceable. In turn, if you're not obviously sweating over something on an urgent deadline, it is assumed you are goofing off and costing the company money. No thought is ever given to collaboration, brainstorming, or getting the best possible work done. All thought and energy is given to how to complete a task with the fewest number of resources involved. Employee morale is horrific. I've never been surrounded by so many people who have had the passion beaten out of them. The company persists in many markets by virtue of being the only game in town. Competition of any kind would sink this entire company in a month.
