Medline has a strong brand, resources, competitive pay and benefits. Culture initiatives and ERGs are highly visible, and the company can look good externally when promoting diversity and belonging. ERG leaders are passionate and want to make a difference.

In practice, “belonging” means very little. Leadership in some areas lacks empathy, compassion, and basic human decency. Accommodation requests, even for serious medical issues, are treated with coldness and inflexibility. Employees may be expected to follow rigid rules regardless of health or personal circumstances. Culture initiatives often feel performative... more about optics than real support. Biases for and against certain groups are noticeable, and employees’ well-being can be ignored.
