Only start here if you have to!!!!! Prior CRA, now in management at another CRO - CRA Medpace Employee Review

Pros

The only pro here is that they are one of the few CRO’s that will hire you directly as a CRA with limited or no experience. The training program is comprehensive and you will learn all you need to become a strong CRA. At other CRO’s with no experience you either have to wait for a cohort training program (becoming more rare among reputable CRO’s because of sponsor experience requirements) or start as a CTA and “get lucky” to become a CRA. Another alternative is to become a study coordinator for a year or two and then get a CRA position at a better company. Bonus structure is nice given it’s related to amount of travel, but this doesn’t compensate for their salary that is way way way below industry standard for CRA’s.

Cons

Oh boy, where do I start?!?? They have you sign a non-compete that is career suicide if you were to honor it - luckily, many of the larger CROs know that Medpace does this and basically laugh at them - its broad and therefore not legally binding. Some CRO’s however will not fire you until after a year from your departure at Medpace (PPD is an example). Zero career growth and a terrible “good ole boys” dynamic. Terrible morale among employees - if anything goes wrong they fire people - my two favorite project managers were fired because of mistakes on their studies. That’s unheard of in the industry.

Pros

Coworkers are willing to help you and answer questions.

Cons

Abysmal pay for industry standards. Work will be piled on continuously. More and more studies. Forced to present impossible timelines. And then you have to speak to why these timelines were not met after the fact when it's outside of your control. Travel expectations thrown at you with a couple days notice. CEO micromanages the entire company. They track when you badge in and badge out of the building. You have to badge out to exit. Upper management throws you under the bus in front of sponsor despite agreeing with you in prep call and telling you they will have your back. People here work crazy long hours late into the evening and think it's normal.
