Pros

Location (central Cincinnati), parking (plentiful, free), office space (modern, secure, clean), gym, variety of free drinks, food trucks, events, relaxed dress code, great opportunity to gain new skills and experience.

Cons

Workforce: not balanced in my opinion. To reduce expenses, Medpace hires a lot of people right out of school. Many of these folks are genius smart which is a good thing but are often lacking in soft skills (social, communication, etc.) Medpace could use a more diverse, experienced, seasoned workforce or, at least, professional development training for new hires. Communication: seriously lacking both within departments and between departments. I'm talking about interpersonal communication not quarterly meetings, email announcements, etc. Layoffs: Medpace let many staff go during COVID-19 when other options were available. Other: lack of training, high turnover rate. Overall, I think Medpace has grown too big, too fast especially since it went public in 2016. Upper management is struggling to keep up with all that goes with hiring hundreds of new people every year. Hopefully things will settle eventually.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the perks of working in our Cincinnati office. We’re sorry to hear you feel there is negativity within the organization. You are correct in stating that we have grown drastically over the last several years. We take our mission to accelerate the global development of safe and effective therapeutics seriously and welcome the growth that comes with it despite potential times of high volume. We do focus a lot of our recruitment efforts on hiring entry level staff and our structure allows for significant advancement once employees transition into experienced roles. We have found great success with hiring individuals with limited experience. We are one of the only CROs that will take on Clinical Research Associates with no prior CRO experience. We have a fantastic training program in place to ensure we can develop our associates into becoming successful employees within the industry. In regard to your comment about COVID-19, Medpace, like a lot of businesses, has had to make some very difficult decisions. Although we had maintained our full workforce with full pay for the initial weeks of the various lockdowns, this was not a sustainable long-term option. It was a very difficult decision to release some of our on-campus staff, and we hope that the severance packages offered to them will help in part to sustain during a difficult economic time for everyone. We are starting to operate “business as usual” and are confident we will be able to continue our growth as the year continues. As for your advice to HR, Nellie, we always respond professionally to these reviews. Sarcasm is not intended (and may be in the ear of the reader) but sometimes a little humor is needed.  We understand that most of the time when people take the time to leave a review it is because they want to vent about something that we were either not aware of while they were employed by us or that we could not address in exactly the way they desired. This forum allows that opportunity and we understand and appreciate that!

Pros

Coworkers are willing to help you and answer questions.

Cons

Abysmal pay for industry standards. Work will be piled on continuously. More and more studies. Forced to present impossible timelines. And then you have to speak to why these timelines were not met after the fact when it's outside of your control. Travel expectations thrown at you with a couple days notice. CEO micromanages the entire company. They track when you badge in and badge out of the building. You have to badge out to exit. Upper management throws you under the bus in front of sponsor despite agreeing with you in prep call and telling you they will have your back. People here work crazy long hours late into the evening and think it's normal.
