Pros

Clean store. Occasional freebie from corporate like merchandise discounts or free gas coupons. Each cashier is issued two dark blue Cintas shirts that can be worn at an ex-employees future job such as Best Buy, Walmart, Papa Vinos, etc.

Cons

Poorly trained Service Management Employees who don't always know the union contract and make-up answers that are not true and violate the negotiated contact. Managers who are nasty and rude and often time treat employees like something sticky that just won't come off the bottom of their shoes. No work-life balance period. When you work for Meijer that management wants you to be under the false assumption that you are now part of the "Meijer Family." I often wondered why I was not treated better and wondered what Fred Meijer would say if he knew what has happened to his stores now that he is gone. An Assistant Store Manager left the Stevensville, MI Meijer because even he could not stand the hypocrisy and way people were being treated.

Pros

Direct coworkers were great to work with. I also enjoyed being left to do my work and not babysat by management.

Cons

Management doesn't know what they are doing. Resets and floor plans were regularly not done properly. The store I worked at has a skeleton crew so I never got help (but was expected to stop everything I'm going to go help other departments/areas). Also meaning good luck to any customers needing help, especially when I was the only person working my area of the store, so when I wasn't there, no one was. Management also regularly disappeared into the offices or were on vacation. Also was terminated for reasons outside my control even though I was told they look at the reasons for attendance incidents before termination. Never got to get the FMLA or accommodation to my doctors before being terminated two days after I requested them. Didn't bother asking for a raise either. I did multiple times and got nothing.
