Pros

In my experience, Meijer Pharmacy provided me with a comprehensive introduction to being a technician. Training included access to Pharmacy Technicians University (PTU), an online course that strengthened my pharmaceutical knowledge and prepared me to sit for the PTCE. Leveling up as a technician within the company was a straightforward process and I was able to achieve the highest level in under 2 years. Pay increased steadily and benefits were decent. I also met many wonderful people (both coworkers and customers) and found the work environment overall welcoming. I remain grateful for the time I spent with the company and do not regret my employment.

Cons

After achieving the highest technician level, though, I felt my growth beginning to stagnate and my skill set surpassing daily demands. Additionally, despite my coworkers viewing me as a leader and key support figure within our team, I was not adequately compensated or valued for my efforts, skills, and achievements. Within the company culture I also observed management engaging in some favoritism as well as turning a blind eye to bad behavior (even blatant hostility).

Pros

Direct coworkers were great to work with. I also enjoyed being left to do my work and not babysat by management.

Cons

Management doesn't know what they are doing. Resets and floor plans were regularly not done properly. The store I worked at has a skeleton crew so I never got help (but was expected to stop everything I'm going to go help other departments/areas). Also meaning good luck to any customers needing help, especially when I was the only person working my area of the store, so when I wasn't there, no one was. Management also regularly disappeared into the offices or were on vacation. Also was terminated for reasons outside my control even though I was told they look at the reasons for attendance incidents before termination. Never got to get the FMLA or accommodation to my doctors before being terminated two days after I requested them. Didn't bother asking for a raise either. I did multiple times and got nothing.
