Pros
Team members were generally friendly and got along very well. I made alot of friends during this job as we shared a mutual hatred for every "blue shirt" in the store. Being a part of the union was usually a good thing too as we had structure and support and also pretty great union events.
Cons
BLUE SHIRTS!!! Every single manager was incompetent and had their heads up their asses. They consistently put you down and made you feel like the lowest scum of the earth. They were all high school dropouts who had made their way up the ladder in some awful popularity contest but had no idea how to effectively manage. They expected you to eat, sleep and breathe Meijer when they didn't even pay you enough to shop there. I know multiple co workers who were on food stamps, filing bankruptcy, getting section 8 assistance and underemployment...all while we see huge "Sponsored by Meijer" signs at sporting events, community functions, etc. Absolutely disgusting.
