Pros

Beware of the reviews that are provided by HR. They sound to much like an employee benefits manual. This will not be one of them. You really need to look for those reviews that are employees and not customers (Marketing Executives) as they will give you what it is like to work as a full-time employee in the Corporate Office. I work in the Global HQ and will give a perspective of what it is like to work there. For a company this size there are some good things you can enjoy. We have good standard set of benefits like self funded insurance, 401K, cafeteria, onsite gym $10/month or reduced $1 per 30 minute visit (wish it was free). This is a global company so if you are in a department that interacts with international teams it can be fun and challenging. We do a yearly picnic that you can bring the family too with some rides, bouncy houses, food, and some prizes if you are into that. We get a turkey/ham almost always yearly. A certificate each month that gives you $90 of product for free. There is a Christmas program every year where we get some form of entertainment and usually a cheap gift. The company does have good growth, but most if not all of that growth is in the International markets especially China. There is never a shortage of work to do and only more so in the last few years.

Cons

Melaleuca is very concerned about our image and does a lot of PR to try and paint a good picture for itself. However, it is all words and if you do your homework you will see that they really are about talk. In this case actions speak louder than words or the lack of action to backup what they say. In these cases we are careful to only say things in employee meetings and never distribute them in written form since we will not actually keep some of our promises. Our CEO tells will tell the company that he wants to make this the best place to work, but I know that the company will never make any of the changes to make that happen. The most recent example of this is this last year was our best year ever and we wanted to give our employees "better than normal" salary increases. These are supposed to be more than the national average. Well from a google search you can see several articles saying a national average is 3%. A few people I have talked with have seen much less than this or nothing at all. This is a slap in the face and a good way to get rid of any good employees you have left. We run very lean on employees, and as a result of other actions have driven several people away. We are at the lowest levels since I have been there and it is really hurting. When you let go 10% of your department and will not call it a layoff because "we never do layoffs", how can you expect to not loose more people. We have been at a steady decline since that event and can only seem to attract people just fresh out of College since they may not know any better. We also rely heavily on Interns since we are not getting other employees. Management in this company is the good-old by system as stated in other reviews. We are also very much about control. Control from the top all the way down. That can result in those below not bring up stuff for approval because they are exerting their control. As a result of this control we tend to treat everyone like an hourly employee and that you are a kid and don't know what you are doing and we cannot trust you. Thus, for salary employees we are not trusted and tend to be micro managed. Your experience here will also depend on your manager and how much of the Kool-Aid they drink. If you have a good people person and they look out for you your experience will be much better than a process oriented manager that sticks to the book. We also tend to be very secretive to our employees with information. We are not transparent at all. Knowledge is control so it tends to be protected and not shared much. It is sad when those people who no longer work here know things that happen before those of us working for the company. Over the last few years we have been loosing our way and are really as a ship in the storm with no rudder. It seems we are going to come crashing into the rocks sometime soon.

Pros

- side benefits are okay - it is a median sort of job - I personally have some freedom do to personal professional development on the clock when there is no immediate need for my work (happens very little) - People half listen once they know you have been at Melaleuca after about 5 years

Cons

- No management that knows what they are doing - Not very customer-focused - Don't seek to fulfill their strategic imperatives or strategies or mission - Very hard for people to listen to you because you're new - They don't have a lot of integrity - Very slow to solve problems - Don't worry about making improvements in processes or tools we use - Slow AI usage and no proficiency in AI usage, strategies or implementation - Managers micromanage because Melaleuca is "unique" - Most of the positive things they tout all the time serves only the company's image, not the employees - Don't worry about giving raises in a timely manner - Not goal-oriented employer And I could probably keep going, but will stop here.
