Pros

Melaleuca is full of very talented and gifted employees. Honestly, the employees at this company are what makes it special and what keeps me here. I have never worked with so many people bright people who are also so kind. At first, I thought it was a bit of a joke or a facade but after working here for several years I have come to realize that the people really are this nice. And they aren't just nice they are very good at what they do. Since I have been here we have grown by over 142% and that doesn't just happen by accident. Melaleuca has grown by double digits for 30 out of 32 years! Last year we grew by $400+MM! Heck, the biggest challenge I face as a leader is trying to keep up with hiring and getting people to move to Idaho Falls. On that matter, I love Idaho Falls. I moved from a much larger state and I really do enjoy small town living. I mean, I have a 10 minute commute and I doubled the square footage on my house and lowered my mortgage payment. Anyway, Melaleuca has treated me very well and I have been able to do things that I never thought possible. The CEO has given me his floor seats to Utah Jazz Games, I have traveled on all of the company jets and have accompanied the CEO to some fantastic trips. I know that Melaleuca isn't for everyone but for me it has been a fantastic experience.

Cons

Working at Melaleuca is not without it's challenges. We are far from perfect but I do feel like we are trending in the right direction. To me Melaleuca is experiencing growing pains. We have out grown many of our systems and processes but we can't slow down enough to fix them. This can cause some serious frustration. Another area that took some adjusting to is the approvals process. You have to be great at building business cases and being persistent and if you are good things can happen. If you are not you will get very frustrated. Just because you are an Executive doesn't mean you get to unilaterally call the shots. This is a founder led company so recognize that he will want to get involved and weigh in on some of your key decisions.

Pros

- side benefits are okay - it is a median sort of job - I personally have some freedom do to personal professional development on the clock when there is no immediate need for my work (happens very little) - People half listen once they know you have been at Melaleuca after about 5 years

Cons

- No management that knows what they are doing - Not very customer-focused - Don't seek to fulfill their strategic imperatives or strategies or mission - Very hard for people to listen to you because you're new - They don't have a lot of integrity - Very slow to solve problems - Don't worry about making improvements in processes or tools we use - Slow AI usage and no proficiency in AI usage, strategies or implementation - Managers micromanage because Melaleuca is "unique" - Most of the positive things they tout all the time serves only the company's image, not the employees - Don't worry about giving raises in a timely manner - Not goal-oriented employer And I could probably keep going, but will stop here.
