      Pros

      SMH is more than an employer to me it is a symbol of stability for the community. I have been a nurse for over 35 years and have held many nursing roles here at SMH. I have left several times to pursue other interests that may not have been offered here but I have never found the grass to be as green as it is here. Here I feel empowered to provide care that makes me proud to be a nurse.

      Cons

      The downside to working in SMH is no different than situations in hospitals across the nation.

      I loved the people and the heart of the organization for their patients. It was a collaborative and fun environment to work in.

      None. I loved working there.

      Pros

      No micro-management, which is outstanding. Decent PTO. I think they’re trying to retain staff but simply do not understand the market.

      Cons

      Very poor communication, no structured, professional training. No department meetings, huddles or comrade. There doesn’t seem to be any motivation or desire for employee enrichment or advancement. Pay is embarrassing low and there is no excuse for this.
