MSK Commack- Toxic work environment with poor administrative leadership - Senior Care Coordinator Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Employee Review

Pros

Health insurance options, retirement, vacation and sick time. Helping patients and family members during this difficult time in their lives. Getting to work with great doctors and nurses

Cons

Very poor, unprofessional management. The assistant managers of medical oncology and radiology make the work environment very hostile with the way they treat the staff they oversee. The conversations and the way they speak to the office coordinators and care coordinators is very inappropriate. Staff is completely overworked and underpaid and you are "counseled" if you try to work overtime and questioned why your work isn't completed before your shift has ended. Unless you are willing to make the commute to Manhattan, MSK Commack is a dead end job with no opportunity for advancement. The staff is a constant rotating door and although many staff members have filed complaints about management, HR rarely gets involved to help investigate and or rectify issues that are arising. This will continue to be an issue until HR steps in to see why staff keep resigning from their positions to work at other local healthcare institutions

Pros

A lot of people to work with and a great amount of exposure to different in-house counsel areas. If you are proactive, there are plenty of people willing to try and meet with you and explain things, though their time is limited. If you can pick at their brains, the Attorneys of the smartest and most hard-working individuals you'll meet. They have some fun events and team-bonding,

Cons

Lack of diversity in interns, which make fit and experience difficult. Even upon meeting diverse staff and people, there always seems to be a barrier and front. Attorneys generally have little time to teach you, but they do their best. Compensation is lackluster, but benefits and events are fun. Sometimes work can lag, and you must be proactive in seeking it out for yourself.
