Pros

Great people to work with, good job to have in high school. Free tuxedo rental for prom.

Cons

Where to start? After the CEO got fired, the work environment completely changed. Instead of making customers and employees happy, the company now focuses entirely on getting the sale. And don't ever expect a raise. I worked at the same store, with the same manager, for three years and made a whopping $8.65 an hour, having started at $8. I was told I could have a managerial position if I wanted it, but when I asked for $9/hr, I was told that it "wasn't realistic." Commission on the rented tuxes was insulting. My paycheck would regularly show that I earned about 12 cents of commission in two weeks. Working harder did not result in better pay. You're gonna be dealing with angry people. Brides and prom moms are the worst, but there will be some guys screaming at you as well. If you're going to work here, you should be able to control your temper.

Pros

When I was here the discount was still mostly okay (went from 60% and 70% during the holidays to 55-65%), and you had the option to essentially put items on layaway out of your check, so you didn't have to have the total up front to be able to build a professional wardrobe if you were a male employee. The environment was chill and laid back in stores not operating on a cutthroat commission pay structure, at least back then. Most employees not in major cities were college-aged kids or just graduated, looking for part time work who could get along well. The duties were easy 95% of the time. Good training opportunities for management.

Cons

I started here when George was just getting pushed out. Several of the key draws/benefits were either shrunk or taken away after George left. The discount was reduced, the employee holiday parties went away (at least for some stores) and the employee clubhouse was taken away.
