Pros

George was a visionary. I say was because I refuse to believe that he is at the wheel while this company is morphing into every other promotional "bait and switch" wait for a sale retailer. He hired smart and motivated people. He kept them all happy by making sure they had a voice and letting them see that those voices made a difference in the waters we all all navigated together. They were trained, they were informed, and they would tell everyone they knew how this was not any other company .... this was an amazing place. It wasnt just buisness, it was personal, and we all celebrated every day within our own stores as we drove numbers and created just about the best team atmosphere I have ever seen. But somewhere along the way things changed. We started renting tuxedos we tried the bridal buisness .... through all of that the store teams held on because we knew George was there. George would not let us down. We were his people and we would try anything to wall the fortress we loved. Bit by Bit ... then by landslides the people saw the change. Instead of having faith in the people he trusted to drive volume .... the inventory was drastically marked up and then promoted at all different prices, training fell away. The sales people, it seems, were no longer trusted to "drive the volume" the people at corperate felt the product would be better promoting itself. And promote they did .... leaving the "selling with soul" and the "live with integrity" motto in the dust. Forcing the sales teams to try to fast talk customers oversell and convince them that that product was actually worth the more expensive price ... with a sale tag of course. The charasmatic competent servent leader multi unit managers were replaced with robotic report forwarders, time card checkers, and statistical bullies. The teams in the stores began to fall apart with all the nitpicking. The once team spirit and serve your neighbor attitude replaced by a cold fear and indifference knowing that if you didnt watch out you could be out of a job. The open door policy George says he has was openly mocked, since everyone knew you better "play ball or else" . The gene pool was muddied with former tuxedo store employees that still to this day have not been properly trained. Many of them wouldnt be fit to work part time in an actual Mens Wearhouse, but no one cares, and no one does anything to better them. There are a few great people left from the old ways of George, struggling to cut and paste those great old buisness practices over the mess that these people in charge are making. They try to pass on those values to the ones they work with, hoping to pass the torch on long enough untill hopefully George wakes up .... or someone has the courage to speak up. But untill then we are left to remember and work in our small teams, store to store, keeping the legacy alive. We miss you George!

Cons

Constant promotions, Forced to manipulate customers into thinking something is better than it is to gain a stat. No training, No follow up or through, No reason to do a great job .... Just do enough so you dont get in trouble. Rewards are all corperate based. Very unpersonal. Only half the management team included in regular meetings. Multi unit managment unskilled and unproffesional. I wont put my city in the review due to fear of recourse.

Pros

When I was here the discount was still mostly okay (went from 60% and 70% during the holidays to 55-65%), and you had the option to essentially put items on layaway out of your check, so you didn't have to have the total up front to be able to build a professional wardrobe if you were a male employee. The environment was chill and laid back in stores not operating on a cutthroat commission pay structure, at least back then. Most employees not in major cities were college-aged kids or just graduated, looking for part time work who could get along well. The duties were easy 95% of the time. Good training opportunities for management.

Cons

I started here when George was just getting pushed out. Several of the key draws/benefits were either shrunk or taken away after George left. The discount was reduced, the employee holiday parties went away (at least for some stores) and the employee clubhouse was taken away.
