Pros
You can get a job with no experience. Easy to get management experience. If able to deal with the compensation can move up quickly. Most of the people that I worked for and with I really liked. A lot of hard working down to earth people there. If you are willing to relocate you could move up very quickly. In busy stores you can work about as much over time as you would like. You also learn a lot of things about home improvement that you can apply to your own house or a friends house that seem to be a job that had to be hired out before.
Cons
Low pay for someone with a college degree. A lot of rules about when managers have to work and hard to get time off. The biggest thing is the low pay per hour. Also the corporate office has a lot of control over a store and each store is a little different from the next one. There is a rule at Menards that you can not point a guest(customer) in the direction of a product but you must take them to it. There was a person fired for pointing and a Department manager of well over 20 years suspended without pay for pointing to the end of the aisle during a busy time when he was swamped. All because someone from corporate saw him point.
