Pros

Pension. Trying to make more competitive with other pharma companies with respect to culture. Most everyone who works here is very dedicated to ensuring our patients always get their medicines of the best quality. Our overall values as a company are usually always aligned amongst colleagues.

Cons

Beauracracy. Senior management says working level should feel empowered to make decisions but middle management needs to know all and causes ineffective and lagging decisions. Too much focus on advancing certain groups of people such that the best candidate for the job often is not the one selected when weighed against meeting a particular metric. Friends who have left the company usually get a 20% pay bump. Unwritten expectations in a lot of departments is to work long hours (nights, early days, weekends, holidays, vacations).

Pros

Work from home (that may not always be a perk, but it is now for writers), choice of flexible hours (7 AM - 9 AM starting), friendly, helpful people, great bosses, people very interested in their jobs, plus a lot of educational benefits, you are trained on all aspects of Merck and your job.

Cons

I cannot think of any, though sometimes work from home has its drawbacks, because the employee doesn't get all the information that an onsite employee would.
