Understaffed and overworked - Registered Nurse Mercy Employee Review

Pros

I had an incredible manager who would pick up groups if we were critically staffed. My direct manager and director were very open about expectations and were always willing to help. The staff on the floor built a compassionate and patient work place environment. I found the floor I worked on to be a great place to learn and grow as a new nurse.

Cons

The administration took too long to implement constructive change. While I felt that I could trust my boss to advocate for the nurses on our floor, the people she reported too just sat back and let us flounder. It felt like the administration did not care that we did not have enough staff to take care of the amount of patients they were admitting. They rarely block beds and it took a year and a half into the pandemic to see any increase in pay.
