Pros

Clean office and well designed office. MetLife has lots of resources. It is a very high fashion office in Tokyo, Japan.

Cons

There is lots of bureaucracy and red tape in the IT department. There is no culture to address problems and if you do they immediately slander you and shut down any complaints. Compliance does not take any action even though they advertise a whistleblower culture internally. So there is lots of corruption both in the HR and the IT system. The PC build given to contractors has tons of known bugs but the IT department makes no effort to fix them.

Pros

I loved my job and my coworkers, and the company's health benefits were outstanding. Leaving wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one.

Cons

I had a toxic manager who micromanaged everything—checking time reports, tracking lunch breaks, and monitoring every minute away from your desk. They often sent multiple emails to communicate a single point because they struggled to communicate clearly. High-visibility projects were consistently given to favorites, while the rest of the team was overlooked. They were also frequently condescending in team huddles and meetings. Based on my experience, they were never taught how to lead people effectively, and I'm genuinely surprised they're still in a management role.
