Pros

The location is central and easy to get to. The Benefits are good and there is a clinic at the hospital that is free for employees.

Cons

I’ve worked at Methodist for a long time as an RN. During my time here, I can say that this is an okay Hospital to work for. Methodist recently started a diversity and inclusion program, but I’m afraid the the diversity isn’t seen on the executive level. The Hospital President sends out emails that are inappropriate in my opinion and sometimes have political undertones. For example, he sent an email when Steve Scalise got shot but said nothing when the chaos in Charlottesville unraveled. I think his emails need to be vetted before sending them out to further consider how his employees will receive it. During my time here, I’ve seen departments completely change. HR can’t ever keep the same staff and neither can the Benefits department. As soon as I get to know someone and trust them to help me they are gone. It makes me wonder what’s going on in there and makes me question if I can trust them with any issues I may have. I’ve heard of several instances of racism and discrimination and have witnessed a fair share for myself. My African American co-workers are treated differently and unfairly. I get away with things that they don’t get away with. I often speak up and tell management but nothing happens. The Hospital isn’t blatantly racist but there is covert racism and discrimination in their practices. If you are a person of color, proceed with caution if you decide to work here. Read through some of the other reviews and you will see that several people have similar experiences. The Hospital looks great from the outside looking in, but once you get in you will experience something completely different.

Pros

Money Insurance Good Boss Good coworkers Enjoyed orientation

Cons

During the orientation, they tell employees that their health is important. As health professionals, our health has to be good so we can take care of our patients and make their health better. However, Methodist Health System makes it extremely hard for an employee if they don’t have enough PTO to be able to get the help they need. So say you don’t have enough PTO but you need a doctors appointment that you have to go to. You’re gonna get a write up and those write ups eventually turn into termination. So where is the grace in the health system? Methodist would be a wonderful place to work if they truly understood their employees are human. I had someone pass away and I couldn’t even go to their funeral because I didn’t have the PTO and couldn’t afford to get a write up. I would’ve loved to have been able to go to my uncle’s funeral. Did anyone care know all you get is sorry for your loss, but you don’t have enough PTO…. So crappy. You’re BEYOND REPLACEABLE and they make sure you know it.
