Pros

The Float Pool position allows you to set your own schedule, offers great money and gives you full autonomy. You can actually schedule your work around your life instead of trying to fit your life around a work schedule that has been set by someone else.

Cons

I hear that the Charleton location is hard on float pool nurses, this has not been my experience at Dallas. The Dallas location is very supportive and appreciative of the Resource team.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.
