Pros

It pays well for certain positions. You meet interesting people and get to make difference in the community. You are a part of a system that controls how government is applied to a diverse community.

Cons

The work atmosphere is highly toxic, new employees are treated with hostility. There is a lot of petty politics and you get promoted due to who you know, not the quality of work. Everyone I know complains about the aforementioned stat.ement

Pros

Working as a Water Safety Instructor was meaningful because I was able to teach an important life skill while helping keep people safe. The team environment was generally positive, and the job gave me solid experience in communication, responsibility, and working with families and children. Scheduling was also fairly manageable for a part time role.

Cons

The job could be physically tiring, especially during long shifts in the heat. Pay and advancement opportunities were somewhat limited, and some days could feel repetitive depending on class schedules and pool activity. At times, staffing and workload could also make shifts more demanding.
