Miami treats their life science grad students well in terms of compensation and opportunities to prepare for future careers (e.g. lecture teaching, research opportunities).
Cons
Everyone's experience depends on the lab they join, but you can expect to spend long hours working in research. For teaching assistant assignments, there can be a huge difference in the workload assigned and you may have little say in what you get assigned unless you have a professor asking for you for their class.
