Good job, enjoyed working with in dorms with students; Supervisors are students though, which causes problems. - Service Center Representative Michigan State University Employee Review

Pros

Earn cash, on campus, close to where you live, while going to school. Interacting/meeting other students. Being a source of information to anyone who may need it.

Cons

Poor organization, poor communication, inadequate problem solving. Student supervisors inappropriately designate situations of high and low importance, some have little or no other work experience yet are promoted above students that have held jobs before enrolling at MSU. Female majority, which significantly contributes to catty behavior and unnecessary drama in the work place & outside the workplace (which happens to be the dorm where you might live).

Pros

The HPC facilities (HPCC, ICER) offer excellent access for research affiliates colpaborating with university researchers, with Slurm job scheduling and a well-managed site-specific wiki.

Cons

Annual account renewal can be a bit bureacratically clunky at times, and the Research Affiliate may have to coordinate with multiple departments and the associated PI if a system update breaks part of a legacy system.
