      Pros

      The people at MSU were very friendly and I got a wide exposure to people with different skill sets There are a lot of diverse opportunities which can help you find a job that will suit your interests and skills.

      Cons

      I was still in learning phase, some initial training would have been really helpful. Also, being an international, was restricted in work due to Visa issues (not necessarily a problem with the employer)

      Pros

      The HPC facilities (HPCC, ICER) offer excellent access for research affiliates colpaborating with university researchers, with Slurm job scheduling and a well-managed site-specific wiki.

      Cons

      Annual account renewal can be a bit bureacratically clunky at times, and the Research Affiliate may have to coordinate with multiple departments and the associated PI if a system update breaks part of a legacy system.
