Pros

-A decent scope of research in ChEMS dept with a lot of interdisciplinary collaborations -Most professors in the dept are decent advisor, some of them are great. -Abundant resources from the uni and graduate school (seminars, workshops, coffee hour and luncheons) on career development -A lot of the graduate students are able to start a career with big chemical companies

Cons

-As in most graduate schools, graduate students are underrepresented and powerless in some bad situations. Therefore, choosing a good advisor is vital to your well-being/sanity during the program -However, one doesn't have the choice of rotating between several labs before choosing a project/advisor. You only get to talk to a few professors and senior graduate students before making the big decision.

Pros

The HPC facilities (HPCC, ICER) offer excellent access for research affiliates colpaborating with university researchers, with Slurm job scheduling and a well-managed site-specific wiki.

Cons

Annual account renewal can be a bit bureacratically clunky at times, and the Research Affiliate may have to coordinate with multiple departments and the associated PI if a system update breaks part of a legacy system.
