Pros
There are so many phenomenal faculty and researchers at this campus across different colleges and units that there are tremendous collaboration opportunities. MSU's access to resources also facilitates and supports many research initiatives. It is an excellent place for tenure track positions.
Cons
As a research institution, there is an obvious weighted emphasis on research production. The academic push to procure grants and publish determines a lot of the attention given and resources allocated to particular projects and initiatives. Be in an academic area where there is interest and opportunity, it will increase your levels of success and happiness with the institution. And be flexible to prioritize your efforts around research.
