Pros

Interesting work under Professors. Learned a lot about the development process. Working with other students as a team taught more leadership. If anyone has the opportunity to work under a grant, I highly recommend it. It allows you to talk about things in interview and allows you to grow professionally.

Cons

Not much structure left hours and deadlines ambiguous. Some programming is self taught, hard to grasp what was really Learned.

Pros

The HPC facilities (HPCC, ICER) offer excellent access for research affiliates colpaborating with university researchers, with Slurm job scheduling and a well-managed site-specific wiki.

Cons

Annual account renewal can be a bit bureacratically clunky at times, and the Research Affiliate may have to coordinate with multiple departments and the associated PI if a system update breaks part of a legacy system.
