Pros

In terms of research, it depends on who you are working with. Luckily I met with professors who are working on various problems. So very satisfied.

Cons

If you work as a TA, you have to put effort without rest. You could get the email from student from time to time, and have to respond in 24hours. Also grading the hws every week and grading midterms and finals take a few days.

Pros

The HPC facilities (HPCC, ICER) offer excellent access for research affiliates colpaborating with university researchers, with Slurm job scheduling and a well-managed site-specific wiki.

Cons

Annual account renewal can be a bit bureacratically clunky at times, and the Research Affiliate may have to coordinate with multiple departments and the associated PI if a system update breaks part of a legacy system.
