Pros
Stability and opportunities for advancement are available for those who work hard and do well on the sales floor. The work environment allows for the ability to build a relationship with a customer one-to-one, which is great for experienced salesmen or even those looking to improve their techniques. This job definitely helped me in learning how to negotiate and how to build a rapport with vast ranges of personalities.
Cons
Though commission-based sales can be good for those who thrive on competition, the company can sometimes focus too much on arbitrary numbers to base your performance. Many times, I felt guilty trying to sell something the customer clearly doesn't want that I knew would not be of any help to him, but that is the business of sales. Regardless of how much you sell, if you're low on your attachments, they can call you in for warnings and even knock you down a peg.
