Pros
So far, everyone I've met here seems to really enjoy their job, and I enjoy the fact that I don't run into negativity on a daily basis. As Video Technician, part of my job is to maintain positive relationships with the staff and faculty here, and it seems like everyone has been happy to meet me. Also, the benefits are great and the pay is great considering the very low cost of living in in Phoenix. Overall, this position is great for me, as someone that's been operating on a freelance basis since graduating college.
Cons
I can only speak for my specific department. I work in the background, which is something I love, but for some of the people I was hired with, it seemed like they were getting hired to work very basic, dead-end type jobs. Not really a "con." Just a thought. As for my job specifically, it seems like many of the professors want to wait for the last second to give me their paperwork for recordings. That part is fine with me, but it's disappointing when I have to turn away professors because they procrastinated.
