Pros

This job is rewarding and fulfilling. The filters we make are important and when things go well it is great to see a vital product ready for the world. There is a nice share of employees with a positive attitude and ambition. The benefits are outstanding. The company culture is very progressive and inclusive. There is currently an extended training program before even hitting the production floor which was a big part of why I chose to work for Millipore. The trainers were friendly and knowledgable and were not distracted by other tasks. I had plenty of individual attention and it really helped climate to a new company and role. There are daily stretch breaks every 4 hours in addition to your regular breaks!

Cons

While there are many veteran employees and there is an average of 8 years experience, there are many new hires and training is an on going activity. Several machines are older and in constant need of maintenance. This plus the constant demand for better numbers and strict adherence to company policies from all levels of management create an overly stressful situation on a daily basis.

Pros

A strong entry-level opportunity that allowed me to build a solid foundation in the biotechnology industry. I appreciated the job stability, benefits, and structured work environment. The position also gave me valuable experience working in a regulated laboratory, following SOPs, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to the safety testing of biologics and vaccines.

Cons

One challenge of the Associate Scientist role was that advancement became limited after reaching a certain level unless a higher-level position became available. The work could also involve long or unpredictable hours because some assays had strict timelines and could not always be paused. At times, overtime was restricted even when an assay required additional attention, which made scheduling and workload management more difficult.
