Pros

The CEO is a very inspiring leader. The culture here is one of the best I've ever had the privilege to be a part of. Co-workers are friendly and very helpful. This company walks the talk regarding their values and the importance of work/life balance, like no other company I know of. And how many companies can you get a massage while at work? That's pretty cool. Also they give us fruit and other perks like MINDBODY Exchange bucks which can be used for different wellness services, including spas, hair salons, yoga, massage, etc. Bright future from a financial growth standpoint.

Cons

San Luis Obispo is a very expensive place to live. The compensation at MINDBODY does not come close to matching what it takes to live in this "rich person's paradise" -- except perhaps if you are a very high-level manager and are willing to take a serious pay cut. Good vibes and balanced chakras are nice, but unfortunately I can't pay my rent with them. It's too bad, because I still feel that in most other ways, this is a great company. Also, interdepartmental communication is criminally lacking. In some ways it feels the company still wants to act like it's a startup and emphasize individual flexibility and "being organic" to get things done. That works great for 25-30 employees, but you are now at 1000 employees worldwide and growing. In truth, I feel sorry for our clients who have to deal with our different departments who don't talk to each other and don't know what the other departments do. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

Thank you for the opportunity to clear up some misinformation! I’d like to respectfully challenge some of what is presented here to present a balanced viewpoint and to avoid any further confusion. As a company, we actively research compensation packages to benchmark against wages, and benefits while considering Cost of Living. Within SLO County, Cost of Living is 4% below the state average- as an example, comparing San Diego county to San Luis Obispo county shows an overall index of 133 (San Diego) and 117 (San Luis Obispo). However those choosing to live directly in the city of SLO as opposed to the many other towns and cities, will pay more in rent. With lower than average transportation costs, and rare traffic to contend with, it’s a great strategy for saving on housing and save for home purchase elsewhere. It’s an opportunity cost situation. Our employees love working here and love their jobs, so it isn’t uncommon for team members to live in surrounding cities (some only a 10-15 minute drive away). This is totally up to you and your family needs. While we are a fast growing company (ranked for the 6th year in a row by Inc. 5000), there are challenges that come with that- including communication which I imagine is a challenge for most organizations like ours experiencing massive growth. However, MINDBODY is a company committed to continuous improvement, which requires participation from all team members to ensure across silo communication. We are actively working to consolidate our client databases and ticketing systems to bring greater transparency and reduce customer effort when they need to speak to more than one department. Internally, we use email, VOIP phones, and instant messaging to communicate with each other as well as plenty of face-to-face meetings. Communication is everyone’s responsibility – if there is a disconnect felt among the Conversions department and other teams, please talk about the challenges and opportunities for improvement. Be a catalyst for change. About salary: to suggest that we undercut salaries to make giant profits is a little silly. While we can’t post company confidential information, we are happy to discuss this with you privately. I suggest you bring this up with your direct manager for clarity. Additionally, each individual has an opportunity and a responsibility to negotiate pay prior to signing an offer. You can approach your supervisor at any time with this. These are hard conversations to have but not any harder than keeping it to yourself. Overall, we want you to be happy here, but only you can take that first step by addressing what is bothering you directly and constructively with your supervisor or Human Resources if you feel unable to approach your supervisor. We need everyone to speak openly with those in managerial or HR roles so we can thrive as a company!

Pros

During my time at Mindbody, I was fortunate to work in an incredibly supportive team environment. The team was collaborative, fostering a positive and productive atmosphere where everyone’s ideas were valued. My managers played a key role in creating this supportive culture. They were not only approachable and encouraging, but also inspiring leaders who gave me the freedom to take initiative and grow within my role. One of the most rewarding aspects of my experience was the creative freedom I was given. I had the opportunity to explore new ideas and approach challenges in innovative ways, which made the work both exciting and fulfilling. This level of trust and autonomy helped me build my confidence, expand my skills, and develop as a professional. Additionally, the work culture at Mindbody emphasized collaboration, making it easy to share ideas and tackle problems togethe

Cons

While my experience at Mindbody was largely positive, there were a few challenges I encountered. One significant issue was the constant turnover in leadership. This frequent change in management created a sense of instability, as new leaders would often come in with different priorities and approaches. As a result, it sometimes felt like no one was on the same page, leading to a lack of direction and clarity. This inconsistency caused a fair amount of disorganization within the company, making it difficult to align on goals and strategies. The shifting leadership dynamics created some challenges in maintaining a consistent workflow and made it harder to build long-term plans. Despite the supportive team environment, this lack of continuity in leadership was a noticeable drawback.
