Pros

Was able to gain a lot of experience on different units; for the most part, the floor nurses were helpful with CNA tasks and workload for difficult patients; diverse workforce.

Cons

Units were often short-staffed; patient to caretaker ratio began to increase before I left; units often wanted you to take on more responsibilities but would not promote or incentivize accordingly.

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
