Pros

Overall decent benefits and internal opportunities.

Cons

Now a corporate, for-profit hospital with different values and motivations compared to a non-profit model. There are pervasive effects throughout the community related to problematic billing practices, staffing issues, declining patient care and satisfaction, multiple private and public lawsuits, and efforts to monopolize healthcare in Asheville. Much more oversight and regulation is needed to make Mission a truly patient and consumer-friendly hospital.

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
