Pros
The benefits are pretty amazing. When you've been there for 5 years, you get a bonus paid month sabbatical in addition to regular vacation time. You get another month every three years after that. You'll also meet some of the smartest, hardworking people you'll ever meet. Moderna's hired well in finding people that you could legitimately be friends with outside of work. Most people working there are pretty chill. The stuff we work on is pretty important. Anyone involved in the mRNA-1273 effort knows there are real people walking this Earth that would have died without our vaccine.
Cons
I miss Moderna 2019 sometimes. It was smaller, you sat in the same room as the directors. Moderna blew up overnight with their participation in the vaccine efforts and there's been a lot of growing pains. Silos popped up pretty bad. There's a lot of social efforts to fight that, but this just happens in late stage pharma. It's a great place to learn and starts a career, but there's a lot less importance placed on innovation than there used to be. The focus is now on maintenance mode of the platform. Anyone looking to really shake stuff up should be looking elsewhere.
