Pros
Can't think of much other than the location which is south bay close to other great companies like Google, LinkedIn etc. But that is the "only" pro believe me.
Cons
Where to start? You are supposed to deliver from day 1 of your job because they have something called daily management and as part of that there are weekly stand ups where they go over KPIs. If the numbers are not good people start pointing fingers at each other which continues in front of VPs and they do nothing. In fact this culture is promoted at Molecular Devices and people who are best at pointing fingers and blaming others for their failures rise the corporate ladder quickly. Seriously all the management cares about are people who can talk - meaning put the blame on others for not making their numbers. There are some people who talk, talk, talk in front of the VPs and CEOs and they are considered star performers just because "they are confident enough to talk in a big forum" in the words of my manager. Can you believe it? And the managers of these "star performers" treat their work as examples to share with the rest of the teams no matter how good or bad it is in terms of performance. Also favoritism is rampant here. Relatives can work together on the same project. People from bigger companies are hired only to be siloed by other employees who feel threatened and insecure in the presence of better talent.
