Pros

Remote Work. Decent hourly rate even for contractors

Cons

Where do I begin? Working at Molina was one of the worst professional experiences of my career. The environment involved extreme micromanagement, limited planning, and a lack of clear structure or direction from both Molina leadership and contracting partners. Communication was often disrespectful and unprofessional, including at senior leadership levels. Onboarding and knowledge transfer were nearly nonexistent, making it unnecessarily difficult for employees to succeed. In my years of working in IT, I have learned that a company’s unwillingness to provide proper onboarding, documentation, or knowledge transfer is a major warning sign. There was little work-life balance. Requirements were frequently introduced midway through a sprint, yet teams were still expected to complete them by the original deadline. These expectations appeared to come from senior management, leaving employees with little ability to push back. Product roadmaps, realistic planning, and basic organization were also lacking. My experience on the Encounters side was especially difficult. I regularly worked 12–15-hour days, and even when I became sick, I was still expected to attend work. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering a role on that team to ask detailed questions about leadership, workload, onboarding, and expectations before accepting an offer.
