Pros

MHC is actually a nice place to work overall; the staff I work with (all health care providers (doctors, nurses) are professionals with plenty of experience in both health care and insurance. The company has good values, and in fact lives by them; they want people to be healthy, and providers to be paid. Senior management appears to have the right mindset (we manage care for people, not shareholders).

Cons

They have grown immensely in the past several years, and their IT systems have clearly not been a focus. Their systems for doing UM can generously be described as "clunky and outdated" (and accurately described as "an actual obstacle to getting any work done"). They have plans to transition to better systems(s), but in my judgment they took far too long to 'get' that newer systems were needed. The company has an aggressive, growth oriented strategy that has left some aspects of the business behind in the race to get ahead.

Pros

Meaningful work, supportive coworkers, good benefits, professional growth opportunities, member-focused culture.

Cons

As with any healthcare organization, workloads can be busy during peak periods, but the experience gained is valuable.

Pros

The on boarding, orientation, initial training, compensation,401k, employee stock program, benefits, perks, the gym, and prior to the Pandemic the professional growth workshops. They offer merit increases and bonuses.

Cons

Cross training can be peer to peer and for short time, yet you are held accountable to master it and audited even if you had little training or experience. There are culture and values along with"no retaliation and no harassment" policies, however there is also no one to take your concerns to that is non-biased. No one to handle the work place bullies or hold management accountable(HR?conflict resolution?) They let the repeated problem people carry on for too long. They do sneaky lay-offs. The internal job posting seems good except, if you apply and you meet all the qualifications your manager or others can block you! They will let you apply to several positions, maybe even on your team or department and will not let you transition or go to another position. Management will not even tell you the reason they need you on the team and won't let you get hired on another team.
