Pros
- You'll meet some of the most talented and extraordinary individuals here. So many people from different backgrounds all working together! - The snacks and beverages provided are pretty above average. Was encouraged to take advantage of our bistro area and felt comfortable to take a break. - You'll develop great technical relationships with your coworkers. If you're great at interpersonal communication, you'll appreciate the transparency here between peers. - No micro-managing. - Somewhat decent work culture/environment. People are friendly here, albeit overworked some days, but everyone is working towards the same goal. There is no discrimination here; dressed very out-of-the-box some days and always felt comfortable while I got my job done. As long as you're comfy and wearing closed toe shoes, wear whatever! - You really get a chance to develop your own role. This could be a pro or a con, but because this is a start-up, you get an opportunity to cross-train and wear different hats. I appreciated this about Momentus. - There's a gym! With showers! Pretty cool! - Pretty nice location. Lots of good restaurants nearby that are totally walkable. Lots of people like to go for lunch together occasionally or group order foods/beverages. - Speaking of, lots of foodies here! Or at least there used to be! Who knows now! - Unlimited PTO
Cons
- So many meetings. Be prepared for meetings to just consume your daily schedule. You'll be lucky if you find yourself free to work on your own projects most of the day. Saw many coworkers saddled with back-to-back meetings. It really set them back when they needed to be more hands-on. - Below average flow of information. While communication at the ground level is quite easy-going (for me, at least), communication from the upper levels could be better. Lots of tribal knowledge going on. Even if things were documented, information is not circulated through the company well. - The organizational structure can use some work, probably. Didn't know who my boss was for a few months. Especially after the first one quit, the second one got fired, and the third one quit. S/o to the interim bosses who held it together through the chaos! - Lab spaces are a mess! I don't know what else to say... - There have been two "purges" during my two years here. We were never the same after the first one. - Beware the schedule. Rest in peace to a work-life balance. Saw people pulling 14 hour days, 6 days a week. Some people slept onsite. All because of a schedule! Crazy! - Retention is low. There was a point during my tenure here where there were people quitting every month.
