Pros

Intellectually challenging environment Provides exposure to a wide variety of constituents - media, seasoned institutional investors, senior ranks of rated companies, investment bankers Still a good name to have on your resume Quality and collaboration of employees is generally good

Cons

Performance review and promotion process remains opaque and inconsistent despite continuing enhancement Below average pay relative to other financial services firms Poor work/life balance In the downturn, Moody's has shown little employee loyalty negating the stability/lower pay trade-off

Pros

Great work-life balance. Decent benefit.

Cons

They don't pay you much. They don't treat engineers as profession. They think engineers are all the same and can swap any of them them with joiner engineers or contractors. They thought they can hire a contractor for 4 months for a project. They took a full month to get a laptop for a contractor, took one more month to get them through onboarding, then took one more month to get them use to the codebase, then the contractor wrote one line, then the 4 months was up. We had to repeat the process with a new contractor.
