They are stunting future asset growth by laying off talented, well trained FA's, then calling this cost cutting. JOKE! - Anonymous employee Morgan Stanley Employee Review

Pros

Benefits, high base, independence, intellectual capital, research, name recognition, fair people on balance. Management opportunities for the willing politico, tough room. . . . .

Cons

Cut me one year to the day I started, 10-4-10----9/30/2011. I held a ticket to PS2 training in NJ Sunday, was let go Friday regardless of hitting bonus, goals, and had obtained series 65 and insurance license without much support unless I asked. Sales assistant was not REGISTERED. I had to do all OPERATIONAL WORK, SETTING UP ACCOUNTS, ALL PAPERWORK by trial and ERROR!!! No reason other than my Manager was told to cut me. A spreadsheet cut as I was ready to close some major deals. They re-assigned my large accounts to the biggest producers, scrape to the lions Not a thought of helping the $250-300,000 producer leveraged to the next level. Just feed the $2 and $1.5 million producer getting only 50% accounts stripped/reallocated the day one is let go. MS played the tax credit for hiring unemployed to the hilt, many others were cut 1 year to the day in 2010-12 for this tax credit!

Pros

Very good co-workers, Great technology stack. Lot of new technologies and integration with current work.

Cons

They dont even give you a MS cup. They ask you to buy it for 5$. So cheap! Management big on "Giving back", Immediate managers do not like it and are not supportive. Lay off employees twice a year to show profits. Only worried about shareholders and clients. Don't know the criteria for lay-off. So, you are always worried if it is your turn. They boast about mental health and wellness. No good, when they layoff employees like this. HR = Horrible Resources. When you are laid off, they shoo you away as if you are a fly. You feel miserable. They themselves say - "We are better than Facebook or Oracle. We dont fire you at 6 AM over email." Gosh! What a comparison!
