Pros
The firm obviously is one of the few to survive to major market crash and carries a solid reputation. They have their own research division which pumps out some top notch market research and provides actionable opportunities for their brokers. The office was well appointed and the computer tools were very nice.
Cons
The trainee program was well intended but poorly executed. The mentorship program was a total joke, and it's a real shame because a good mentor can make a world of difference. Obviously, this is a sales oriented type position where you are selling yourself, but inter-office competition is very high so brokers were not likely to help each other too much. The sales manager at the time sorely lacked management capability, though I believe he has since left the company. Too focused on cold calling and not enough on finding better ways (existing connections) to attract clients.
