Sinking or swimming in the Bering Sea - Financial Advisor Associate Morgan Stanley Employee Review

Pros

There is a lot of flexibilty in how you build your business. It's up to you - sink or swim. If you love talking to people, don't have fear of rejection, and are well connected you can make a lot of money. Pure capitalism at its "finest." Brand name provides a marginal benefit when speaking with clients/prospects

Cons

Salary is very low versus other careers, and sales pressure is heavy and persistent. It's nearly impossible to reach the goals that are presented in your job offer because industry fees continue to compress, payouts are slim for newcomers, and clients and potential clients generally consider what you do to be a commodity. Very few truly prosper. Don't expect to make a whole lot for at least 4 years unless you have rich family members willing to let you manage their cash.

Pros

Very good co-workers, Great technology stack. Lot of new technologies and integration with current work.

Cons

They dont even give you a MS cup. They ask you to buy it for 5$. So cheap! Management big on "Giving back", Immediate managers do not like it and are not supportive. Lay off employees twice a year to show profits. Only worried about shareholders and clients. Don't know the criteria for lay-off. So, you are always worried if it is your turn. They boast about mental health and wellness. No good, when they layoff employees like this. HR = Horrible Resources. When you are laid off, they shoo you away as if you are a fly. You feel miserable. They themselves say - "We are better than Facebook or Oracle. We dont fire you at 6 AM over email." Gosh! What a comparison!
