Pros

Work Lifestyle Balance Decent Salary Great Location Clean Office

Cons

Since the company was sold the culture of DBRS changed! Branding as a Canadian organization, but run by Americans in New York and think the clients don't know this.... morale went down the toilet and so di the quality of the product. Claim to want to listen to their employees by conducting surveys but do not implement any changes to improve things! Turnover year over year has increased, many long standing loyal employees left for greener pastures. Bonuses for middle management are insulting while senior management gobble up the biggest pieces of the pie. Claim that there is some sort of metric in place for bonuses which depending on who you talk to varies in the explanation. Under performing US offices coincidentally where all the executives and senior leaders are housed are paid handsomely and bonuses are high. Explain to me how the US operation which has not made any money in years.. and is supported by the performance of the Canadian operation has the largest salaries, and biggest bonuses? HR Department practically does nothing. Pro Senior Management and inefficient. Toxic gossip runs wild If you stand up for yourself.. you are branded and eventually your days are numbered. In terms of career growth and advancement? Non existent. People are hand chosen and groomed. Often those positions are not posted for those interested to apply for. Favoritism is quite evident.

Morningstar DBRS Response

It is unfortunate that your perspectives on DBRS is not aligned with the facts. Our global business is stronger now than any time in our history. Furthermore, the U.S. business has been profitable as a standalone business for over 8 years. Our voluntary attrition in Canada continues to be below the overall average of companies in Canada and in-line with our expectations. Lastly, in terms of career growth and advancement, over 65 people were promoted last year at DBRS, which is reflective of the growing needs of our business and the performance of our people.
