Pros

Experienced position with lots of growth and learning

Cons

Constantly dealing with staff turnover, clients who refuse to budge on labor budgets, and thus as a director you spend well over half of your time doing hourly work (when you should be handling client issues and managing the account). Majority of accounts are considered "fixer uppers" due to poor management from previous director or team (it is a VERY common them in the industry), so constantly dealing with damage control.

Pros

flexible schedule. unlimited PTO. never a shortage of work. if you work for a unit with a good manager, that's all you need,

Cons

the flexible schedule is also a con. they call you at 6 am and 11 pm about things that can absolutely wait. the unlimited PTO is also a con, they do this so they don't have to pay you out when you leave or remove you, they also don't really let you take off as much time as you want. upper management, the VPs and DPs are nightmares. terrible people that are totally disconnected from the mission and the "corporate culture." they push acceptance at the unit level, and then upper leadership doesn't listen to it at all. The VPS and presidents like to take the CEO out drinking and they all love to party.
