Pros
Very competitive pay (annual raises, flat pay scale by level and seniority. entry level starts at 45k + ~10% holiday bonus), amazing health care & benefits package, all the food you could ask for, company uber, social events, and the change to work with some of the funniest, most passionate people in DC. I've been at Mothership for over two years and climbed through the ranks very quickly. I had zero digital experience when I was hired, but they took a chance on me. Now I have the opportunity to manage my own team, shape strategy for major Democratic clients, and influence the growth and direction of the company as a whole. The growth here is truly limitless.
Cons
The work / life balance can be difficult. When folks come in, they are eager to prove themselves and often struggle to draw boundaries (esp. hires fresh out of college). This is not a clock in clock out sort of job, but most places in DC aren't. My work life balance feels similar to my friends on the Hill. Mothership also faces a lot of issues that most start ups face. But management is actively trying to fix these issues as they arise. We adapt quickly, but we are a rapidly growing company that can face growing pains.
