Pros

Free lunch once a week was nice during the pandemic My coworkers and I ended up bonding over our misery! Established my skills so I could get another job somewhere better

Cons

Mothership was the most toxic, unrewarding work experience that I've ever had. While leadership may say that I just wasn't 'cut out' for the industry, I am now a year into a new job in the same field where I'm thriving and receive much more positive feedback and turn out better results for my clients (shocker, treating people well improves your work!). I watched bright, talented individuals be grinded down by impossible standards. If you're not immediately considered a 'favorite' by your manager, expect a long, miserable road where they ice you out on a good day and verbally abuse you (sometimes in front of your peers) on a bad day. There's little chance that you'll be able to become a favorite, no matter how hard you work. And despite complaints from several employees about our manager, because of their status as a 'favorite', they're still there. The lack of management training for people slotted to become leaders is appalling -- being 'good' at the job of scamming seniors into donating money to what's essentially lining the partners' pockets doesn't make a good leader. The favoritism also extends to clients -- I got no facetime with Greg or any of the partners besides a bizarre required meeting with Greg on Day 1 where he basically waxed poetic about the genius of the Mothership project. Meanwhile, other strategists were able to establish a clear path of upward mobility by working with partners every day. Much has already been said about the tactics, but the lack of ethics really rots the company to the core. Managers were constantly referring to lists as 'the olds' and really saw our lists just as money making machines, not part of a movement to elect candidates or make any kind of change. Because of the unethical tactics and the well-known horrible culture, Mothership is the laughing stock of the industry -- I echo the review that says that I'm embarrassed to say I worked there.
