Pros

>Meet a lot of nice people >You have the opportunity to talk to a lot of experienced people of different disciplines and learn from them > Company pension > Benefits > Opportunities to work on different projects at various stages in the construction process > Good amount of holidays > Flexitime > Working culture is otherwise pretty good > Site experience (but you have to arrange it all yourself)

Cons

> Lack of training > Very unorganised for a big company > Markup system for North and South and old schemes all different which causes great confusion and errors especially for new employees > Lack of support once you have been there a while > Poor lower management > Old fashioned, not willing to get with new ways of working in the industry > Looked at as a "resource" and not treated much better than a utensil in your kitchen. > Lots of technical problems with the IT systems > Lack of opportunities for people who work hard to progress onto bigger and better opportunities > There is flexitime but on my team we were essentially told we couldn't use it so we ended up having set hours! > Senior management don't take any notice of specific problems with employees and just act on hearsay without any evidence to the actual truth. They also can't handle the amount of projects that are incoming and so it becomes a messy system of working.

Pros

Niche software dev BU followed through with employment offer after 6 month contract-to-hire period. Provided me FMLA and even additional 2 weeks paid maternity leave without any legal obligation. Hybrid remote/office-based strategy supported work-life balance. Employee-ownership of company strengthened team mentality. Improved my resource management skills, built network via enterprise training sessions, increased GIS and agile methodology domain knowledge, and learned interesting facts about sustainability and construction engineering environmental design dependencies. Also, I felt heard and valued after my project risk reporting was addressed by leadership and a major issue avoided.

Cons

My labor cost became commercially restrictive after leadership changes at a strategic client. I was impacted during an Oct. Reduction in Force post a re-org.
