Pros

Fairly flexible working eg. can work from home if needed, can take 3 weeks off in a block etc. Generally no need to work beyond 37.5hrs although this seems to vary a bit by sector. Huge variety of skills and experience on big projects within the company. Work is generally interesting and challenging whilst the people are experts and easy to work with. Graduate program events are useful learning experiences and the induction events give a chance to meet some senior people in the business. The fact that you go pretty much straight into a job and don't waste time doing short placements means that you quickly get into doing real jobs. Good support towards obtaining chartership in engineering professions. Once you have experience it is possible to move abroad to other offices that do similar work. Quite a few office social events are paid for by the company. Focus on well-being eg mental health first-aiders in each office and free counseling

Cons

As a huge consultancy your experience very much depends on what sector you work for and which office you work in. Smaller offices tend to be specifically focused on one sector so can feel a bit cut-off from the rest of the company, so it could be quite difficult to get experience working in a different sector if you didn't want to move office. Because its consultancy, your exact experience depends on what jobs come in, it can take a while for graduates in some areas to get into regular work, since they do not have the expertise that is required for some types of jobs. You start with 22 holiday days plus bank holidays (=30), however you can buy up to 15 additional days for each year, effectively as unpaid leave (and you can roll them to the next). Pay review process is fairly opaque Seemingly as part of a push to produce 'one Mott MacDonald' some company policies are implemented from high up without any sort of consultation with those they will affect. The local office moved to a new location which had neither functioning internet nor working air-conditioning when we moved in, now fixed but the experience did not fill me with confidence in the internal management systems.

Pros

Niche software dev BU followed through with employment offer after 6 month contract-to-hire period. Provided me FMLA and even additional 2 weeks paid maternity leave without any legal obligation. Hybrid remote/office-based strategy supported work-life balance. Employee-ownership of company strengthened team mentality. Improved my resource management skills, built network via enterprise training sessions, increased GIS and agile methodology domain knowledge, and learned interesting facts about sustainability and construction engineering environmental design dependencies. Also, I felt heard and valued after my project risk reporting was addressed by leadership and a major issue avoided.

Cons

My labor cost became commercially restrictive after leadership changes at a strategic client. I was impacted during an Oct. Reduction in Force post a re-org.
