Titanic going down, all due to Management - Registered Nurse Mount Nittany Health Employee Review

Pros

Paid fairly for a staff nurse but not paid well enough for the ridiculous management practices. This used to be the best hospital to work for. New management came in a few years ago and since it has drastically been spiraling down. You have no voice at all they know best even though they never touch a patient.

Cons

Management, Management, Management. I don’t know if that is clear enough. The staff are wonderful but middle management all the way up the line are horrible. They love to play favorites and have no problem taking off or anything for themselves. They tell you how to do your job but I don’t believe alot of them even know where the patients are in the hospital. When you voice your thoughts/concerns basically paint a big X on your back. Especially in the ER or Cardiac areas.

Pros

CEO gave frequent newsletters to employees. Sometime held nice employee events. Had a good employee of the month program.

Cons

They can talk the talk for culture but cannot walk the walk. This is a very political environment. If one person at the Director level dislikes you or something you have done, you will be terminated, regardless of a clean, long term employment history. The union does a good job representing the employees, however leaders are unprotected. Leaders often felt that there was no job stability. Office spaces are small and closet-like. Lots of petty, unprofessional drama. MNH claims they have great benefits, but they are subpar at best. No retirement match until 1-yr of employment, which would be 3% which is not competitive. PTO package is not generous and includes holiday - so if you were hired around a holiday, you do not get paid for the holiday because you would not have enough PTO built up yet. The on boarders are dishonest about what can be offered. I was personally lied to and others were lied to about the company not being able to offer relocation assistance or additional PTO. They DO do this, but just tell candidates they do not.
